Representation & Lobbying
SIFA is the major representative of the freight forwarding and goods transport industry in Sweden, and it is a well respected consultant on a number of subjects by Government and industry-related organisations and it has influence on political decisions and policies, both on a national and EU level, regarding e.g. infrastructure, taxation and the legal framework affecting the industry. SIFA’s job is to make sure that the views of its members are properly presented.

Networking
Actively participating in and contributing to the work of the committees, working groups and interests groups is an excellent networking opportunity as it brings together representatives from a number of the member companies on a regular basis. In addition, the annual assembly and the general meeting of the Association held twice a year, attracts a large number of people thereby giving the members a chance to meet with colleagues in the industry and forging new connections.

Advice & other services
Access to free advice and information, is something that especially small companies without their own in-house expertise find particularly helpful. Through the secretariat, they can obtain advice on issues related to for instance customs, dangerous goods, environmental and transport law. In addition, the Association has concluded co-operation agreements with various companies, which gives the members access to insurance and energy solutions and other services at reduced rates.

Information
The business of freight forwarding, logistics and the transport of goods is very complex and it is important for our members therefore, to keep up-to-date on all aspects of the industry which affects their business. The newsletter E-Nytt (available in Swedish only), distributed weekly by the association and the information published on this website play an important role in this regard. In addition, SIFA together with some of its committees, interest and working groups arrange seminars and events twice a year on various topics that require special attention. Promoting and communicating the activities and importance of the industry to government and to the public is another of SIFA’s most important activities.

Education & training
The Association offers a number of training courses, available both to members and non-members. There are courses to enhance the skills of freight forwarders, both those new to the industry and those more experienced interested in continuing training. Other courses on specialist subjects such as dangerous goods, logistics and law, are run throughout the year.
