Nordiskt Speditörförbund - a background
The Nordic Association of Freight Forwarders, Nordiskt Speditörförbund (NSF for short) was founded in May 1920. The objective was to promote the freight forwarding business, to encourage collegial relations between the association's members and to try to enhance the general conditions for the performing of the freight forwarder's business.
Already in 1919 representatives of the Nordic freight forwarding trade had met to prepare the creation of a Nordic association. On this occasion the first edition of NSAB, The General Conditions of the Nordic Association of Freight Forwarders, was approved. Ever since, the care and development of NSAB has been one of the principal tasks of NSF.
Another important task is to coordinate the points of view of the Nordic associations on international questions, especially within the framework of Fiata and Clecat. NSF has developed a Nordic model for quality certification of freight forwarding businesses and is continuously working with exchange of information on dangerous goods and initiatives to clarify juridical questions.
